Phil G. Busey
Phil Busey, born in Oklahoma City , is a member of the Cherokee Nation, Delaware Tribe and is an AV rated attorney. He attended Oklahoma City University , where be played baseball, graduating in 1974 with a B.A. degree. He graduated from Oklahoma City University Law School in 1977 with a J.D. degree. He began his legal career as an attorney with the largest bank holding company in the state at the time before entering private practice.

Busey has practiced law regionally and nationally for over 30 years. The combination of commercial and corporate law experience with a strong Indian law background gives him a unique expertise in representing tribes and minority enterprises. His expertise is in Native American law, commercial, corporate, government, public finance and contracting law. For the first 17 years of his practice he represented large regional financial institutions. During this time he documented over $1 billion of commercial loans and acted as counsel on over $1 billion of public finance bond issues. For 9 years he was adjunct professor of law at Oklahoma City University and has been a moderator or speaker at over 75 CLE and business seminars. He is currently a professorial lecturer at American University in Washington D.C.

After years of serving as shareholder with several large firms and an executive with regional commercial companies he established the Busey Resource Group and Busey Law Group in 2000. His goal was to bring large firm experience to tribes, small and minority businesses. Today, Busey Law continues to specialize in representing minority businesses and Native American enterprises and tribes. Busey and his firm are recognized Native American law experts representing tribes and enterprises in forming successful joint ventures, businesses, trust acquisitions, projects, legislative matters before Congress and gaming enterprises. This experience is coupled with an expertise in federal regulation, government and minority contracting. A principal focus of The Busey Group is assisting clients in all aspects of minority government contracting.

Busey has been married for over 30 years and lives with his family in Edmond Oklahoma. He is a member of the Oklahoma and American Bar Associations. He is licensed before the Federal District Court and the United States 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. Busey is active in civic affairs.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Deaconess Hospital and the Citizens Policy Center and among others is a former board member of the American Indian Chamber of Commerce.  He is an active member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church . Busey has a passion for minority and public education and developing successful classroom to career projects.
