OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma companies representing dozens of industries were included on the 2009 Inc. Magazine ranking of the 5,000 fast-est growing companies.
Thee ranking, in its third year, bases its selection on performance over a four-year period involving gross dollars of growth, revenue, metro region and industry.
The best state showing came from Oklahoma City-based CSI, which was included for the first time and ranked at No. 91, putting the company in Inc.'s exclusive Top 500 list.
CSI provides information technology, advice and assistance, and engineering and professional services for government projects, owner and founder Ken Novotny said.
"We've done a good job on putting together the best solutions at the best price," he said. "We've doubled in size every year since 2004."
The company has grown quickly, from one employee and $63,000 in business in 2004 to a work force of 160 highly skilled employees and $7 million last year, he said. Listening to customers, and taking care of employees, has make CSI successful.
"We're very excited about all this," he said.

For locally based Busey Group, this year's ranking at 2,169 is a big jump up on the list from last year, when the company was No. 4,429.
The company provides a wide range of support and contract management services. Growth has come from expanding into the aerospace industry and more recently into the energy sector, said Philip Busey Jr., the company's vice president of communications.

After several years being ranked, "it says something if you can stay on the list," Busey said. "We're really happy with our growth... Being on the list is an honor."
The sole gun range and retail store on the list is H&H Gun Range & Shooting Sports Outlet, which has been included in the ranking for three years. H&H was ranked at 1,121, up considerably from last year "and an impressive 75th among retailers, nationwide," owner Miles Hall said.

"In the gun business, we're incredibly different," Hall said of his now 70-employee operation that has blossomed into a retail store, gun range, gunsmith service, archery center and educational center. "People wanted to learn how to shoot, and they wanted a place to do it. We've evolved into a culture."

Paycom, a locally based Internet payroll company, was No. 1,916 on the list after adding five sales offices last year and expanding its headquarters.
"The success and growth of our company and this continued recognition from Inc. is a testament to our ability to listen to our customers and provide them with the cost-effective solutions they need to streamline their payroll and HR processes," Oklahoma entrepreneur and Paycom Chief Executive Chad Richison said.
