Busey Group named chamber business of the year

OKLHOMA CITY - The American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Oklahoma has named Oklahoma City-based Busey Group one of three statewide 2008 businesses of the year.
Claremore-based Cherokee Data Solutions and Tahlequah-based Mail Mart were also named.
The award was accpeted by Philip Busey Jr., vice presient of communication for the Busey Group at the annual gala held recently at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Oklahoma City.
"This award is given to the Busey Group because of the exemplary success they have shown and the role model they have become for many American Indian-owned businesses," said Bernadette Huber, executive director of the chamber. "Not only have they demonstrated great financial success but have done so much in reaching out to support the American Indian community."
"This award is a great honor for us to receive," said Phil G. Busey, Chairman and CEO of the Busey Group and member of the Cherokee Nation. "As American Indians and supporters of the American Indian Chamber of Commerce this award has special meaning.
"The chamber offers a great service on behalf of American Indian businesses," Busey said.
American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Oklahoma (AICCO) has five chapters and serves hundreds of American Indian and tribally owned businesses.
"The chamber is an organization that continues to grow and support the American Indian community," Huber said.
In 2005, The American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Oklahoma named Busey Group Oklahoma City Chapter business of the year.
Busey Group is a business consortium offering services in program management, government contracting, commercial business solutions, fleet and heavy equipment leasing and consulting and legal support with operations nationwide, including Alaska and Hawaii.
