Veterans Affairs Summit
THE VA BRIDGING THE GAP SUMMIT 2003
Native American and Minority Business Development
The Busey Group was selected by the US Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington,
DC to provide a minority business development summit focused on Native American
and minority small business contracting and development. The Bridging the Gap Summit
was offered April 23 and 24 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The summit brought together
Government contractors, large business, small business and Native American and Veteran
owned business to facilitate future contracting relationships and business. A focus
of the summit was facilitation of these relationships. In attendance were over 130
participants from across the nation. Presenters included Boeing Aerospace, The Army
Corp of Engineers, NASA, Flintco (the largest Native American construction company),
Small Business Administration (SBA), The US Department of Veterans Affairs and other
contractors. The two day summit concluded with individual “how to contract” workshops.
The summit closed with a trade show with over fifty booths. Future summits are planned.
