NASA Liftoff to Learning
Native American Education
Busey Resource Group is dedicated to building educational programs and opportunities
for Native American students. BRG is active in School to Work and offering NASA
related "Lift Off to Learning" programs for Native American students. BRG was awarded
a $50,000 grant by NASA in 2002-2003 to create a first of its kind "Lift Off to
Learning." The program introduces Native American and minority students to educational
pathways in Technology, Life Science, Math and Science combined with "hands on "
development of NASA related projects. The program brings astronauts and career specialists
to the students and links NASA content and classroom experts to the students through
satellite links. Students in the program have an opportunity to visit NASA-JSC for
a one day visit as part of their experience. The goal is to provide Native American
students with a message that opportunities exist for them in multiple career fields
and people care about their future.
