Journal Record to honor Achievers Under 40
April 18th, 2008
OKLAHOMA CITY - Louisa McCune-Elmore, editor in chief of Oklahoma Today magazine, will be the speaker at the 2008 Journal Record Achievers Under 40 event honoring 40 professionals from the state.
McCune-Elmore was honored as one of last year's Achievers Under 40. Before joining the Oklahoma Today magazine in November 1997, she was a contributing editor for The American Benefactor. She has also worked at Worth, George, Harper's Magazine, Mirabella and New York. In 1996, the Enid native was assistant editor of Fools for Scandal: How the Media Invented Whitewater, written by Harper's Magazine contributor Gene Lyons. A former contributing editor to Green: The Magazine for Personal Finance, her articles also have appeared in National Geographic Traveler, Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel, Reader's Digest, Worth, OKC Business and World Literature Today.
The Journal Record's Achievers Under 40: Rewarding the Climb salute is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. May 15 at the Renaissance Tulsa Hotel & Convention Center, 6808 S. 107th East Ave. in Tulsa.
"The mission of The Journal Record's Achievers Under 40 is to honor and recognize the accomplishments of Oklahoma's talented young leaders," said Journal Record Publisher Mary Melon. "This year, we received an amazing number of quality nominees, making the selection especially difficult. The upside is that we can all feel secure that our future is in good hands.
"This year's honorees - all under the age of 40 - have already proven both their leadership skills and their strong commitment to making Oklahoma a better place to live and work," Melon said.
The winners were chosen by a committee composed of area leaders and will be honored at the event and profiled in a special publication of The Journal Record.
Sponsors of the 2008 event are Accel Financial Staffing Solutions; Alliance of Emerging Professionals; Bank of Oklahoma; Chesapeake Energy Corp.; Cox Communications; Oklahoma City University Meinders School of Business; Third Degree Advertising and Tulsa Young Professionals.
