Summit to address expanding Oklahoma's economy

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Busey Group of Companies and Oklahoma City University Meinders
School of Business will host “Expanding Oklahoma’s Economy: Building Upon Education,
Business and Diversity” April 3rd.
The conference will bring together leaders from education, large and small business,
minorities and tribal governments to explore ways to build bridges for Oklahoma
economic success.
“Our economic future depends on bringing all our communities together,” said Phil
Busey, Chairman and CEO of the Busey Group. “This forum focuses on Oklahoma’s resources
and opportunities. We have to build bridges between education, business and state
and tribal governments for economic incentives. This is a great beginning.”
Speakers at the conference include a keynote address by State Treasurer Scott Meacham,
State Chancellor of Higher Education, Glen Johnson, State Superintendent of Education,
Sandy Garrett, Robert Conner, Director of the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center,
Tinker, AFB, Vince Orza, Dean, OCU Meinders School of Business and Chief Chad Smith
of the Cherokee Nation.
Representatives of the Aerospace Industry will discuss career development and the
importance of doing business in Oklahoma. Educators will bring ideas and plans
about career development for students linking business and education together.
Tribal leaders will discuss the importance of bridges between tribes, business and
the state to capture and grow economic opportunities for the state. Diversity
specialists and businesspersons will address the importance of small business, minority
business and resources for Oklahoma’s future.
The conference, to be held at the Meinders Building at OCU, is free to the public,
